New Song: JoJo Remixes Drake’s ‘Marvin’s Room’

Published: Tuesday 14th Jun 2011 by David

Pop starlet JoJo has lent her vocals to a remix of Drake’s ‘Marvin’s Room‘ ahead of the release of new album ‘Jumping Trains’.

Now the second remix to a Drake song the singer has recorded, JoJo’s reworking of ‘Room’ may surprise many of her supporters.

Find out why below courtesy of RapUp….

Whilst her voice remains as flawless as it was back when she was slamming lockers in ‘Leave(Get Out)’, one wonders if JoJo is on her way to making the mistake many a former tween sensation  has made in the past.

For although she is no longer than the 14 year old we came to know her as, the almost trigger happy use of the F bomb in this remix may turn some of her fans all the way off.
Especially ones who still perceive her as being a singer whose appeal lies in her voice and not in her so called ‘edge’.

Let us hope that with this new album, the 20 year old reminds the world why it loved her in the first place and not become an oversexed attention hungry Pop kitten desperate for notoriety in a GaGa/Perry world.

JoJo is NOT Like other Pop stars. She is just trying new things. Yes It surprised me that she said F***, but I still love her and I love this.

  2. Dunk June 14, 2011

This is siiick!!!!!! Not offended by the F word at all as all she has done re sing the original hook that Drake sung and Drake RULES! If it’s good enough for him it’s good enough for her, the biggest mistake any true artist can make is to try and be who they previously were, Artist like Madonna and Janet have proved that your fans grow with you and love to watch you evolve. Jojo can sing about s** or whatever she wants, she is a classy and talented girl, and that will carry her through, the only thing that may get in the way is leaks and label support as with every artist these days, i’ve no doubt the quality of her material will be off the chain as it has always been!

  3. @JWILLDUKES June 14, 2011

This ishhh is hot…F*** the haters…Jojo doing her!!!

  4. TheFan June 14, 2011

    I agree with Dunk.

  5. Mr. Mouth June 14, 2011

It makes me sick that there is talent like Jojo around and people always sleep on her cause she keeps it classy and won’t sell out. Jojo is music, these other h*** are fads and trends. The fact that she can be a grown woman (who disturbingly is starting to look like Lindsay Lohan, not that it’s a bad thing, L is pretty, they can’t take that from her) and still she manages to keep it classy even when she drops the “F” bomb. Jojo has always had a little hood in her, I love it. I can’t wait until she gets a hot team to blow her the f+&k up. I’m ready. Thanks for writing about my girl That Grape Juice. It’s refreshing to see something outside of Stanville!

  6. lol June 14, 2011

Sounds very Dawn Richard inspired. I like!

  7. JoJoArmy June 14, 2011

F*** The haters I love this! This is only a cover, So why people think she is gonna make the same mistake other Pop Stars did? JoJo is nothing like those hollywood chicks. JoJo is JoJo. She doing her. JoJo has a beautiful voice and Doesn’t need to use her sexuality for fame. She is verstalie and sings in most genres of music. So That grape Juice I disagree with you.

  8. YEAH June 14, 2011

Sorry but JoJo has always been a gangsta white girl every since she was 13. This Sh*t goes hard. F*** the haters!

  9. YOOSONDALOOSE June 14, 2011

She is amazing, that is great! Go JoJo!

  10. truciebedford June 14, 2011

they should do a track together. She killed his Houstonlantavegas joint.

  15. blairdevereaux June 14, 2011

    t h i s i s f i r e ! ! !
one of jojos biggest positives is also one of her downfalls….
she can’t be defined musically….plus because she is able to appeal to soo many, downfall because it becomes extremely difficult to market her….
    nonetheless …I still love her

    follow me on twitter.com/blairdevereaux

  16. JER June 14, 2011

this song is fly as hell. i love the mellowness

  17. Starin June 14, 2011

Agree with B-Rad. Her fanbase has grown up with her. She’s an adult and so are they now. And she hasn’t released music in so long that I doubt most young teens even know who the f*** she is.

Since her last album, she has certainly won over much more older and mature fans anyway. She said her album will be pop infused with loads of other genres including urban music, but things like this will keep her urban fans happy and jumping trains with her.

Besides, it’s only a cover copying the original. Now if her own music was laced with expletives then it would be different. But her music isn’t.

  18. Gumaro June 14, 2011

WTF!! THIS S*** IS INSAAAANNNEEE!!! She has an AMAZING VOICE! EVERYONE SAYS F*** THESE DAYS!! She is 20 yrs old, GOD PEOPLE! I was drinking, smoking, cursing, partying, living life when I was 20yrs old!

Good for her doing what she wants, success is inevitable for her.

  19. Michael June 14, 2011

    Loved it.

  20. G June 14, 2011

    Yes Ms. Jo…YESSSSSSSSSSSSS….T.H.A.N.K.S!!!

  21. Rihstan June 14, 2011

Haha lol at the Dawn Richard comparison. But really tho JoJo is the s*** she killed that remix and her voice is even better now she’s older see her Jill Scott cover its epic! I hope she doesn’t sell out and makes the album she wants to cos she’s a REAL singer and she’s 20 years old now she can say f*** as much as she wants cos she ain’t no bubblegum popster like Katy or britney. I agree with the comments she should definitely do a song with drake that would be dope and they are kinda similar in the way that they write and the emotions and sentiments of their songs.

  22. NOTNEWS June 14, 2011

Next to GaGa, I love this chick right here…. she killin it!

    INSAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNE!

Her fans have grown up. Most of the youngings she used to appeal to aren’t into that kiddy stuff. On that note, the girl has always had some s*** grit to her.

  24. Kahari June 14, 2011

Sam, your doubt just goes to reflect how little belief you have in JoJo’s artistry. JoJo is a young woman and like many who posted above me have stated, her fan base has grown up with her. So, what she decides to curse a little. It’s expressive. Sometimes, cursing is the only way to convey a true emotion without sugarcoating it. JoJo is a Queen to me. Her growth is undeniable both musically, profession ably, and emotionally. I’m totally looking forward to this Jumping Trains era. JoJo is coming back for BLOOD to snatch wigs. Watch

  25. tweetypiebabe1 June 14, 2011

Are you serious Sam?! lol! She’s remixing Drake’s song which has the same tone. Also if you follow Jojo you can tell she’s clearly matured, not just in age but in character and tone.

You also need to realise when Jojo came out she was 14. I’m older than her at 21 and I was a fan, so you can assume that those who were her fans have grown up with her and are now in their late teens to early 20s and should be able to handle this language as well as the subject tone.

Finally, if you’ve listened to her recent material, even stemming from the ever so tame but suggestive ‘How to Touch A Girl’, you can tell that Jojo isn’t afraid of taking risks, and she takes them very well!

  26. Diamond June 14, 2011

I loved ‘In the dark’ but I don’t like this one. Boring.

  27. Lovely June 14, 2011

This song is AMAZING . . . can’t get it out my head , Its on REPLAY . Anyone who doesnt like it doesnt have taste Jojo was amazing before and still IS .

  28. Dane June 14, 2011

    Amazing..

  29. kekeluvsu June 14, 2011

    @RihStan

I ‘LOL’ when that person said it was Dawn Richards esque. O_o really?! b/c last time I checked JoJo was out waaaaaaaaaaaaay before we knew Dawn or DK for that matter. And Sam JoJo was actually 12 when she came out not 14. But best believe jojo has many fans from all different ages so she will be fine. And if ppl have a probably with her dropping the f bomb than they don’t have to listen to her. Simple as that. GO JOJO!!!!!!!

P.S. I really think Drake and Jojo should do a song together. That would be hot. I know they would both KILL.

  30. ItsTT June 14, 2011

This is hotter than lava!! I can’t get it off replay. Sam you’re wrong. There’s no censoring when it comes to raw emotion. You let it out however you have to as long as you get it out.

  31. B June 14, 2011

This song is on repeat right now, i love it! And the thing about turning her fans off by this song is not gonna happen cause ummm…shes not 14 anymore and neither are we. Her fans grew up too, boo

  32. rick June 14, 2011

JoJo is attempting to put distance between the person she is now and the younger image of herself that we’re all more familiar with. But the song and JoJo included can be just as smart, s*** and strong without the cussing. It’s time that she and every other entertainer realize that.

  33. MC_BFLY June 15, 2011

i have always and will always love jojo she is really maturing as an artist and this proves it.

  34. nice_gurl June 15, 2011

Every artist, whether they have young or mature fans use the ‘f’ word. Just look at Chris Brown, Rihanna. I thought it was a great remix anyway.

  35. Topman June 15, 2011

This is so hot, and Jojo has always been feisty so I don’t see the problem with her swearing. Also the language she uses doesn’t mean she’s gonna s** up for image – stupid assumption to make.

  36. ANNA GARCIA June 16, 2011

Y IS EVERY MAKIN A BIG DEAL OVER ONE WORD IT NOT LIKE SHE WENT IN OR ANYTHIN SHE JUSS SAID F*** I THINK DA SONG SOUND GUD WITH DAT WORD WITH OUT IT IT BE REG.. N SHE GROWIN UP LET HER GROW UP NO ONE COULD BE A KID FOR EVER IF SHE WANNA TRY NEW THING LET HER SHE NOT 14TEEN ANYMORE PPL!!!

  37. jack June 16, 2011

Agreed with most everyone else, using the f word is just part of the cover and part of her growth. I strongly doubt she’ll oversex herself either. Her cameo in Keri’s “Love the Way You Love Me” was a little troubling though. She didn’t actually participate in the overtly sexual parts of the video, so maybe it’s nothing.

  38. Stephanie June 27, 2011

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but everyone who was her fan back when she was 14 has grown up as well, including me. I was 11 at the time & I’m almost 18. I can’t handle the word f***. 🙂

  39. katy June 30, 2011

hella sick song (: lovee it!!!
